Did you ever get a doll based on an outfit?

I'm not a big Molly fan at all-and I guess I like to keep the historical line of clothes, with their collection. But I am in LOVE with her bathing suit-it almost makes me want to go out and buy Molly just for the suit!

Well.. I have a sad (kind off) story: I bought a second Addy for the dress she came in.
This wonderful lady had her on ebay on a vintage cotton dress with matching bloomers, that were probably 100 years old. She had adapted the dress to fit Addy and it looked awesome: cream colored, floor-length, embroidered!!!
So, Addy got home and it was clear that the dress needed cleaning... well... it did not survive the cleaners! The bloomers did and now Lissie wears them at times.
However, the good part is that this second Addy ended up being a first issue one, with the codes and marks in her neck and a much nicer complexion than the one I had! So the old Addy left and I have now the absolute princess of my AG collection!

Why not just buy the bathing suit?
If you have an AGoT she could wear it and be quite retro! If you have a historical she could wear it and be ahead of her time! (And for some of the girls, quite scandolous.)

I bought Sam's Tea Dress almost 10 years before I got the doll for it. Usually Felicity would wear it... she was WAY ahead of her time.


(And let me tell you, I got it yesterday, Molly's Bathing Suit is AMAZING)

Its definately on my list. But I saw it when it first came out and my jaw dropped.

I was thinking about buying it when I get an AGOT doll. [img]smile.gif[/img] Unfortunately I just have Nellie and Felicity right now. And as of now, I think they are the dolls with the smallest collection. *grins*

Yep.

I love Marisol's Meet Outfit. That is what first attracted me to her. Now, of course, I love everything about her look (face mold, hair, skin tone).

And I think ANY excuse for another doll is acceptable ;-).

Well... I haven't YET, but I definitely plan to. [img]smile.gif[/img] I am going to get Molly purely b/c of the Route 66 outfit and accessories. In fact, I'll probably go ahead and get the outfit & accessories soon... just in case they get retired. Then some day when I don't have to spend so much on AG stuff for my DDs, I am going to get Molly for myself. [img]wink.gif[/img]

OR... I might just get a AGT and let her wear Molly's outfit. [img]smile.gif[/img]

What's wrong with buying an outfit first, and then buying a doll because you HAVE to have her to wear the outfit? I've done that so often with shoes. 'Oh I love those shoes.' I buy the shoes. Then..'now I need a dress to match my new shoes.' Same logic, LOL!

Realistically, Molly's swimsuit could also be used as a 'sundress' for an AGOT! [img]biggrin.gif[/img]
